From a plater-welder to a supervisor

Elvis Kulovac

Logistics Supervisor, Component Manufacturing

Elvis Kulovac works at the Turku shipyard as a logistics supervisor in component manufacturing. His day-to-day duties include supervisory tasks and organisation of logistics. He is responsible for deliveries and missing parts. In addition to these duties, Elvis has participated in the establishment of our shipyard’s temporary logistics centre.

Elvis’ career at Meyer Turku’s shipyard began in 2005, when he trained as a plater-welder in our Shipbuilding School through a six-month recruitment training programme. After completing the training, he worked as a plater in component manufacturing for three years. Next, he switched to the transport team of the component manufacturing department. Elvis wanted to advance in his career and decided to complete specialised vocational training in technology while working, and he qualified as a ship technician in 2014. Thanks to this qualification, Elvis was promoted to logistics supervisor in 2015. As a supervisor, his duties include day-to-day management and various component manufacturing, block assembly and large block assembly tasks.

According to Elvis, the bast part of his job is the amazing team and opportunities to find solutions to interesting challenges. For Elvis, the best moments are when employees succeed together and when their work culminates in a ship ready to conquer the sea. Elvis is certain that our shipyard and its employees are the reason why ships will be built in Finland long into the future.
