From electronics to shipbuilding
Jenni Konsell
Welder, Block Assembly
Jenni Konsell works as a welder in block assembly at our shipyard. Her job is to weld steel parts together into blocks that are later joined into large blocks. Jenni is responsible for finishing and the visual look of her work.
Jenni found herself in the shipbuilding industry after completing a recruitment training programme organised by our Shipbuilding School. She had previously worked for long in the electronics industry and had no experience of the metal industry or shipbuilding. Nevertheless, Jenni was interested in a new career in building ships and so she applied for the course, got in and completed the training.
Jenni graduated as a plater-welder from Meyer’s Shipbuilding School in 2013. The training lasted six months and it included both theoretical instruction and practical training.
Jenni has found her place at Meyer. She enjoys working at our shipyard with an encouraging and helpful team. According to Jenni, the best parts of working at the shipyard are her team, the warm working atmosphere, and the diversity of her tasks. Her goal is to constantly develop as a shipbuilder. She wants to succeed together with the shipyard.
